Welcome to StarRising Devotional, a Christian devotional application designed to support individuals and families in Bible study, prayer, spiritual reflection, and faith development.

StarRising Group ("StarRising," "we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting the personal information you share through StarRising Devotional ("the App").

This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use and protect it, which third-party services are involved, how long information is retained, and how users may request access to or deletion of their information.

2. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign in using Google or Apple, we may receive and store:

• Your name

• Email address

• Profile picture, if available

• A unique account identifier

Apple users may choose to share a private relay email address instead of their personal email address.

Devotional and User-Generated Content

Depending on the features you use, we may store:

• Personal prayers, answered prayers, and testimonies

• Journal entries and spiritual reflections

• Optional voice recordings attached to prayers

• Bible bookmarks and reading progress

• Faith journey progress and milestones

• Memory Verse practice and quiz progress

• Children's Bible story favorites and reading progress

• App preferences and accessibility settings

Bible verse highlights are stored locally on your device.

Family and Child Profiles

Parents or guardians may create child profiles within their own accounts.

These profiles contain:

• A display name or nickname

• An age-group selection

• Bible story favorites and learning progress

• Other age-appropriate activity progress

Children are not required to provide their own email addresses, dates of birth, photographs, or contact details to create these profiles.

An optional parent PIN may be used to protect access to parent settings. The PIN is stored in hashed form.

Technical Information

To operate and secure the App, we process limited technical information, which may include:

• Sign-in session information

• IP addresses processed during server requests

• Device or browser information needed to operate the service

Sign-in sessions expire after seven days.

The App does not use third-party advertising, advertising identifiers, cross-app tracking, or third-party analytics.

We do not intentionally collect precise location, contact lists, payment card details, or medical records through the App.

3. How We Use Your Information

We use collected information to:

• Provide devotional and Bible study features

• Save and synchronize prayers, journals, bookmarks, and learning progress

• Personalize your experience

• Support family and child profiles

• Maintain account security

• Respond to questions and support requests

• Operate and improve the reliability of the App

We do not sell personal information.

We do not use private prayers, journal entries, reflections, or voice recordings for advertising.

4. Artificial Intelligence and Third-Party Features

Certain optional features use external service providers.

Voice-to-Text

When an eligible user chooses to dictate a prayer or journal entry, the audio is processed by OpenAI's speech-to-text service to convert speech into written text.

The App does not retain the temporary dictation audio as a saved voice recording.

Voice Prayer Recordings

Users may choose to attach voice recordings to prayers.

These recordings are stored privately through the App's cloud storage provider and are not automatically transcribed or submitted for AI reflection.

AI Reflections

Adult users may request AI-assisted spiritual reflections.

When this feature is used, selected Scripture, the chosen topic, and any information the user enters for the reflection may be processed by Anthropic's Claude service.

AI-generated reflections are identified as AI-generated content and are not presented as Scripture.

Bible and Story Narration

The App may use OpenAI's text-to-speech service to produce spoken narration of Bible passages and children's stories.

Published Bible or story text may be sent for narration. Personal prayers and private journal entries are not sent for this narration feature.

Generated narration audio may be cached and reused.

Bible Content

Bible passages may be retrieved from bible-api.com. Personal devotional content is not intentionally sent to this service.

5. Children's Privacy and Family Protections

StarRising Devotional includes faith-based content for children, teenagers, and families.

Child profiles are created and managed through a parent or guardian's account.

The App uses age-group settings to provide appropriate Bible stories, Scripture learning, and family devotional activities.

When a child profile is active:

• AI reflections are unavailable.

• Voice-to-text features are unavailable.

• Adult Marriage content and related journeys are restricted.

• Administrative features are restricted.

• Children may access appropriate Bible reading, Bible stories, Memory Verse activities, Family Worship, and other permitted devotional features.

These restrictions are implemented in the App and enforced through server-side access controls.

Children do not have access to open-ended AI chat.

We do not display advertisements to children or use child-profile information for advertising.

Parents and guardians may manage child profiles and request deletion of associated information.

6. Information Sharing and Service Providers

We use third-party services to operate specific App features, including:

• Emergent: App hosting, database services, account authentication, and file storage

• Google and Apple: Account sign-in

• OpenAI: Speech-to-text and text-to-speech services

• Anthropic: Optional AI-generated reflections

• bible-api.com: Bible text retrieval

These services receive information relevant to the features they provide, as described in this policy.

We do not sell user information or automatically share private devotional content with other users, including family members.

We may disclose information when legally required or when necessary to protect the safety and security of users and the service.

Donations and External Payments

If the App provides a donation link, users may be directed to an external payment provider.

Payment information entered on an external payment website is processed according to that provider's privacy policy. StarRising Devotional does not directly store payment card details.

7. Data Storage and Retention

Account information and devotional content are generally retained while an account remains active.

Sign-in sessions expire after seven days.

Some generated narration audio may be cached to support App performance.

When users remove individual prayers, journal entries, child profiles, or other items, those items may be hidden from their accounts rather than immediately erased from every underlying storage system.

Associated database records are deleted when the account deletion process is completed.

Voice Recording Storage Limitation

When a user removes a voice recording or deletes an account, the App removes access to the associated recording.

However, the underlying recording file may remain with the cloud storage provider because permanent file deletion capabilities have not yet been confirmed.

We are seeking clarification from the storage provider regarding permanent removal of these files.

8. Account and Data Deletion

Users may delete their accounts through the App.

To delete your account:

1. Open StarRising Devotional.

2. Go to Profile.

3. Select Delete my account.

4. Follow the confirmation instructions.

Account deletion removes associated account records and linked database information, including:

• Account profile information

• Prayers, journals, and testimonies

• Child profiles

• Bible and story reading progress

• Memory Verse progress

• Favorites and bookmarks

• Faith journey progress and milestones

• Parent PIN and preferences

• Sign-in sessions

Voice recordings become inaccessible following deletion, subject to the storage limitation described in Section 7.

We aim to respond to and complete applicable deletion requests within 30 days, subject to technical limitations and legal retention requirements.

9. Your Privacy Choices and Rights

You may:

• Manage certain account preferences

• Remove individual devotional entries

• Manage or remove child profiles

• Request access to personal information

• Request correction or deletion of personal information

• Export available devotional data using the App's Export my data feature

Available exports may include prayers, journals, journeys, bookmarks, and milestones.

Stored voice-recording files are not included in the standard data export.

Privacy rights may vary depending on your location and applicable law.

10. Data Security

We use HTTPS encryption to protect information transmitted between the App and its services.

Account sessions use time-limited authentication tokens.

We also use access controls intended to protect private devotional content and restrict child profiles from inappropriate features.

Although we take reasonable measures to protect information, no online service or storage system can guarantee absolute security.

11. Spiritual and Wellness Content

StarRising Devotional provides Christian educational, devotional, and spiritual reflection resources.

The App does not replace professional medical, mental health, or emergency services.

AI-generated reflections are intended as optional spiritual support and should not be treated as medical advice or as a substitute for Scripture, pastoral care, or professional guidance.

12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in App features, service providers, legal requirements, or privacy practices.

When updates occur, we will revise the effective date.

Significant changes may also be communicated within the App.
